MUSCATINE, Iowa – Muscatine senior middle hitter Haylie Franklin was named to the eight-player Mississippi Athletic Conference volleyball first team released Monday.
The 6-foot Franklin, who is being looked at by several Division I schools, led the Muskies with 411 kills (4.3 per game), a .548 hitting efficiency, 74 blocks and 63 service aces this season.
In addition to that, Franklin served at a 92 percent clip and was second on the team with 470 digs (4.9 per game).
Muscatine finished the season with a 29-7 record and tied for fourth in the MAC with a 5-4 mark.
Franklin’s teammate, libero Jordan Walgren, was named to the nine-player second team.
Walgren led the Muskies with 544 digs (5.7 per game) and started all 36 matches this season. She also was 229 of 258 serving with 26 aces.
Muscatine seniors Emily Hasken (middle hitter) and Julie Wunder (setter) earned honorable mention honors.
Hasken averaged 2.4 kills per game and was second on the team with 57 service aces. Wunder distributed 720 assists and compiled 29 aces.
Bettendorf junior outside hitter Ann Miller was named the MAC’s Player of the Year, while Davenport Central’s first-year coach Amber Hall – whose team won the regular-season title – was selected as Coach of the Year.
