Cordrey rolls 728 to win state pin title

DES MOINES, Iowa — Muscatine High School bowler Jessica Cordrey brought home an individual title from the Iowa Girls State Bowling Tournament here Saturday at Plaza Lanes.

Cordrey was one of two Muskies who qualified for the state tournament as individuals after the team was upset last week at the regional tournament.

She turned in games of 233, 279 and 216 for a whopping 728 series. Runner-up Lynn Schmidt of Cedar Rapids Prairie rolled a 663 and Muscatine teammate Amber Clemens was third with a 645 series. Clemens had games of 212, 219 and 214.

Ottumwa easily won the Class 2A team title by posting a 2,959 in the field of 10 teams. Dubuque Senior was a distant second with 2714.

In Class 1A action, Keokuk outdistanced Oelwein 2,847 to 2,675 for the team championship. The individual winner was Stephanie Martens of Keokuk with a 658 series.
