Area girls basketball: Proctor, Grunder power Wilton

WILTON, Iowa – Kara Proctor had 18 points and Carlee Grunder added 17 as the Wilton girls basketball team opened the season with a 59-44 win over Andrew Tuesday night.

Wilton broke open a four-point halftime lead by outscoring Andrew 16-7 in the third quarter. In addition to her 18 points, Proctor also led the Beavers with eight rebounds.

Madison Maurer chipped in 11 points and had four steals for Wilton, which won despite committing 30 fouls.

WACO trips up Columbus

WAYLAND, Iowa – Led by three players in double figures, the WACO girls basketball team knocked off Columbus Community 58-30.

Kiley Hudson scored 14 points followed by Ellie Lutousky with 12 and Abbey Roth with 11.

Chelsey Smith led Columbus with eight points, while Marina Ramirez and Kelsey Lyon each had six points and six rebounds.
