DURANT, Iowa – Durant-Bennett’s football team came away with a 33-14 homecoming win on Friday night over Van Buren.

The Wildcats had scores by Jake Goering, Caleb Fruend, a scoring pass from Skylar Dierikx to Shane Sheahan and a Dierikx field goal.

Coach Barry Bower’s team also scored on a safety in the third quarter. Individual statistics were unavailable.

“We executed pretty well at times,” Bower said. “We left a lot of scores out there – we need to capitalize on those. We left about five scores out there.

“We had fourth and 1 from the five and we didn’t punch it in and we also missed a field goal. But it was an overall great team effort.”

Durant, which improved to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the district, plays host to West Branch next Friday.
