WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa — Wapello’s softball team lost twice at the West Burlington softball tournament on Friday.
Solon handed the Arrows a 4-0 loss and then they fell at the hands of No. 9 Fort Madison, 11-3, in six innings due to the time limit.
Wapello was two-hit by Solon’s Kacie Musgrave and managed four hits against the Bloodhounds. Kaylyn Lanz drove in two runs and Erika Massner hit an RBI triple against Fort Madison.

Frosh split at Pleasant Valley
PLEASANT VALLEY, Iowa — Muscatine’s freshman softball team played two great games, but split the two at Pleasant Valley on Friday.
In the opener, Muscatine rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh and held the Spartans scoreless despite leaving the bases loaded. In the nightcap, Muscatine lost in extra innings.
Freshman coach Ellen Carey said, “The team fought hard and played well, but couldn’t come up with the win in the eighth.”
All nine Muskie batters had at least one hit in the second-game loss.
