DAVENPORT, Iowa – Muscatine’s softball team was ready to play, but couldn’t get its games in Saturday at the Davenport West Invite.

The Muskies’ first game was rained out and, with the tournament down to one field that was playable, was supposed to play West Branch in the last game of the day. The Bears, however, did not show.

Coach Dennis Schuur said he wasn’t sure if it could be counted as a forfeit.

“The tournament director wasn’t happy,” Schuur said. “We waited to play the last game and West Branch wasn’t there.”

Muscatine is to travel to Clinton tonight for a doubleheader.

Durant 4-0 at N. Scott 

ELDRIDGE, Iowa – Area schools Durant-Bennett and Louisa-Muscatine had a reversal of fortune at the North Scott Invitational last weekend.

While the Wildcats were a perfect 4-0, L-M struggled with a 1-3 record. One of Durant’s victories was a 10-0 decision over the Falcons.

Durant’s other wins included an 8-1 decision against DeWitt Central, a

7-0 victory against Western Dubuque and a 6-0 game with Bellevue-Marquette.

L-M took a 6-0 loss to Class 4A second-ranked North Scott and an 8-1 loss against DeWitt Central. The Falcons’ lone win was a 5-1 victory against Bellevue-Marquette.
