WILTON, Iowa – The Cedar Valley Conference and the Big East Conference in Eastern Iowa have one last chance to see their favorite baseball and softball stars on the field this season.

The second annual Cedar Valley-Big East baseball and first Cedar Valley Conference-Big East softball doubleheader will be held today at the baseball and softball complexes at Wilton High School.

The first of two softball games will start at 6 p.m. with the baseball game also scheduled for 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $4 for students.

The Cedar Valley Conference softball coaches will be Wilton head coach Lance Pedersen and his assistant coaches, Mike Norton and Rachel Ingstad. The Big East softball team will be coached by Bob Bunting and staff from Lisbon High School.

The Cedar Valley Conference baseball coaches will be Wilton head coach Jake Souhrada and assisted by Wilton assistant coach Ed Sawvell and the Mid-Prairie baseball coach, Brian Miller.

Competing from the area in the baseball contest will be Wilton’s Drew Freie, Todd Denkman and Erik Grunder, West Liberty’s Ian Hamilton and Durant-Bennett’s Bryce Guerink.

The area softball players will be Durant’s Heather Turkle and Hailey Thompson.
