MUSCATINE, Iowa – Betty J. Newcomb, 81, of Muscatine, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Lutheran Homes.

Chaplain Vicki Pedersen of Lutheran Homes will officiate the service. 

Memorials may be left to Lutheran Homes.

Betty was born on Oct.  2, 1928, in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Margaret Wagner.  She married Harold Newcomb on July 26, 1947, in Iowa City.

She was of the Methodist faith.  She enjoyed cooking, she liked to sew, enjoying both quilting and embroidering, she loved camping in their motor home, and she also liked to fish.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Newcomb of Muscatine; three sons, Terry Newcomb of Russell; Gary Newcomb and wife, Linda, of Muscatine; Rick Newcomb and wife, Connie, of Muscatine; one daughter, Deb Essex and husband, Jerry, of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one infant daughter, Diane Newcomb.
