CLINTON, Iowa — Mardell E. Pettitt, 75, of Clinton, formerly of Muscatine, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at her home in Clinton.

Mrs. Pettitt was born May 15, 1932, in Durant, the daughter of Leonard and Stella Sindt Lamp. She married Thomas D. Pettitt Jr. May 5, 1951, in Muscatine. He died in 1994.
She owned and operated Pettitt’s Restaurant in Muscatine for many years. She was well known for collecting and selling antiques and collectibles and attending flea markets.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, puzzles and the company of her cat Kelly.
She is survived by a daughter, Paula O’Dell and husband, Jim of Clinton; two sons, Thomas D. “Tom” Pettitt III of Muscatine and Leonard L. Pettitt of Clinton; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
