OWENSBORO, Ky. — Darlene Delores Warren, 83, Owensboro, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
Private burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 723 Harvard Dr., Owensboro, KY 42301.
Mrs. Warren was born on Oct. 2, 1925, in Muscatine, the daughter of Robert L. and Carolyn Finder Plum.
She graduated from Muscatine High School, in 1943, and Manhattan Medical Assistants School in Manhattan, N.Y.
She married Philip Edward Warren April 28, 1950.
She was employed at Roosevelt Hospital in Bremerton, Wash., where she worked as an x-ray technician.
She worked for Miller Insurance Brokerage, Chicago, and in Muscatine, Iowa for the Department of Public Health and the Muscatine School Systems.
She volunteered for 17 years for the Muscatine Hospital Auxiliary, 15 years for the American Red Cross, provided tutoring services at the Hispanic Center and Literacy Plus, and volunteered for Iowans for Tax Relief.
She has been a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church Owensboro for 20 years.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Philip E. Warren Jr.; two daughters, Patricia “Tish” Warren and Elizabeth “Liz” Warren Mann; two granddaughters, Brenda Nesbit Howard of Wilton, Iowa, and Mary Elizabeth Mann of Owensboro; a grandson, Jorge Aaron Mann of Louisville, Ky.; a great-granddaughter, Danielle Conaway Gaeta of Kodiak, Alaska, and a sister, Gladys Stump of Las Vegas, Nev.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and a daughter, Carole Lynn Thorpe Nesbit.
