MORRISVILLE, Vt. — Sandra Yvonne “Sandy” Trombley, 55, died peacefully Friday, July 3, 2009, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer with her loving husband and son by her side.

Mrs. Trombley was born March 31, 1954, in New York City, the daughter of Melvin David Alloway and Ileana Rodriguez Thomas. She married Timothy Jay Trombley Aug. 25, 2005, in Las Vegas, Nev.

She attended Fannie Allen School of Nursing and Castleton State University. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, working puzzles, cooking, playing golf and decorating her home. She always loved the outdoors and taking rides around the back roads of Vermont.

She loved people and could always put someone at ease. She dearly loved her dog Jake.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy Jay Trombley; a son, Anthony Joseph Grelle of Sacramento, Calif.; siblings, Jeannette Alloway of Waterbury, Robert Thomas of Montpelier, Edward Thomas of N. Wolcott, Dennis Thomas of Hyde Park, William Thomas of Barre, Ronald Thomas of Essex Junction and Orland Thomas of Morrisville; her father Melvin David Alloway of Iowa; half-sisters, Brenda Danke and Laura Lange and half-brother Brian Alloway, all of Iowa; mother-in-law Pauline Manosh of Morrisville; and the father of her son, Richard Joseph Grelle of Sacramento, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ileana Thomas and her stepfather, that raised her, William Edward Thomas.
