Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City.
IOWA CITY, Iowa — Donald E. Thompson, 76, of Iowa City, formerly of Tipton and Muscatine died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009.
A reception will follow at the funeral home for all those in attendance at the services.
Private family graveside services will be held later.
Memorial donations can be made in his memory to Juvenile Diabetes.

Mr. Thompson was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Burlington, the son of Louis and Goldie (Seaberg) Thompson.
He attended and graduated from schools in Burlington.
He married Beverly Jean Lenihan April 14, 1954, in Burlington.
The couple made their home in Tipton, for many years where they owned and operated the Dairy Queen. Later they moved to Muscatine, where Don worked for HyVee before his retirement.
In retirement the couple moved to Bella Vista, Ark. where they enjoyed many good years.
There they were active members at the Highland United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Teresa Harbaugh and husband John)of Ellensburg, Wash., Scott Thompson and wife, Debra of Iowa City, Christina Seitz of Vinton, and Constance Harper and husband Kreg of Ollie, ; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Thompson.
Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Don's family and his services.
