CONESVILLE, Iowa — Irvin “Freddy” Fredrick Everett Jr., 78, of Conesville, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at his home in Conesville. 

Burial will be in the Conesville Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Allen Wright Hanft Post No. 100. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grace United Church of Christ, Conesville Fire and Rescue, Columbus Junction American Legion or the Louisa County Shriners. 

Irvin Frederick Everett Jr. was born on Jan. 6, 1931 in Conesville, the son of Irvin and Callie (Buser) Everett. 

He was a 1948 graduate of Conesville High School.  He was united in marriage to Beverly Pine in 1949 and later divorced.  In 1955, he married Norma Louise Munson.  Following Norma’s passing, his remaining time was spent with his loving companion, Linda Murphy, for 25 years. 

He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving in Germany. 

He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed raising melons, hunting and playing cards.  He was well known for his work ethic, generosity and kindness toward others.  He was the original owner and operator of the Thirsty Camel in Conesville, a member of the Columbus Junction American Legion, Davenport Shrine, Columbus City Masonic Lodge No. 107, Ducks Unlimited, Conesville Yacht Club, Cedar Valley Hunting Club, Muscatine Moose Lodge, Louisa County KAABA Shrine, past vice president of the L Bar M Rodeo Association in Conesville and Orono Township Clerk for many years.

He will be deeply missed by Linda Murphy of Conesville; his children, Douglas and his wife, Cindy, of Spring Hill, Fla.; David and his wife, Marcia, of Conesville; Duane and his wife, Laura, of Leesburg, Fla.; Connie Clark and her husband, Danny, of Columbus Junction; Kathy Everett-Erickson and her husband, Ed, of New Boston, Ill.; Karen Warnstaff and her husband, Harlan, of Conesville; Cindy Austin and her husband, Randy, of Wilton; Jeff Murphy of Columbus Junction; and Brian Murphy and his wife, Dana, of Lee Summit, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe, and his wife, Lois, of Winfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Everett; a sister, Helen Gartske; and two brothers, Edward and Dale.
