STOCKTON, Iowa — Joyce L. VanDeWalle, 80, of Stockton, died on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Lutheran Homes of Muscatine.
Memorial donations may be made to Durant Fire Fighters Inc. or the Durant Ambulance Service in her memory.
Serving as casketbearers will be Ron McConnaha, James Farmer, Bob Gries, Tony Ballinger, Scott Richmond and Domingo Vasquez.
Mrs. VanDeWalle was born Aug. 15, 1929, the daughter of Raymond and Verbena (Willer) Stoltenberg in Davenport. She married Rene J. VanDeWalle on Jan. 17, 1948, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2000.
She graduated from the Durant High School in 1947. She was born and raised on the farm she and her husband farmed in Muscatine County until she moved to Muscatine in 2007. She loved her life on the farm and enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America, Durant Camp. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and flowers. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her five daughters, Colleen VanDeWalle of Grand Island, Neb., Lori Ballinger of Davenport, Lynn VanDeWalle and James Farmer of Stockton, Jodi and Ron McConnaha of Moscow, and Jolene and Bob Gries of Muscatine; five sons, Stanley and Sheryl VanDeWalle of Poplar Grove, Ill., Verne and Shari VanDeWalle of Durant, Merle and Bonnie VanDeWalle of Muscatine, Dick and Lola VanDeWalle of Stockton and Lee VanDeWalle of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
