MUSCATINE, Iowa – Cleo M. Moore, 93, of Muscatine, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Lutheran Homes.

There will be no service or visitation per Cleo’s request.  She chose to donate her body to the University of Iowa College of Medicine.  The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

Memorials may be made to Lutheran Homes.

Cleo was born on June 28, 1916, the daughter of Samuel and Mamie Phillips.

She married Harvey Moore on a snowy Christmas Eve.

Cleo retired from HJ Heinz Co. and was an active volunteer in the community as well as a member of the Red Hat Society. 

She loved to play cards and attend family gatherings.  She enjoyed boating and camping at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri with her family for many years.

She is survived by her three sons, Darwin Hohenadel of Muscatine, Melvin D. Moore and wife, Krista, of Muscatine, and J. Alan Moore and wife, Candace Stender of Montana; her grandchildren; Niki Nienhaus and husband, Steve, and their children, Keaton and Kealy Nienhaus and Colton Hampton; Chuck Moore and wife, Therisa, and their children, Brandon and Cameron; Jody Knightengale and husband, Kelly, and their children, Connor and Terrance, Jill Thompkins and her children, Holly, Brandon, Madison, and Triston; three sisters, Wanda ‘Peg’ Strock, Betty Rinnert, and Cecil Atkins; two brothers, Larry Phillips and wife, Barb, and John Phillips and wife, Ruth Ann; and many nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and several other family members.
