MUSCATINE, Iowa – Ellen Marie Stevenson Fessler, 50, of Muscatine, formerly of Bowling Green, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at her home.

The Revs. Jason Crossen and Paul Ostrem will officiate.

Casketbearers will be Tom Flickinger, Paul Ales, Jim Bennett, Dan Huss, Art Hovick, Brian Burns, and Albert Stevenson.Honorary casketbearers will be Nick Jeffries, Aaron Stevenson, Ryan Stevenson, Jacob Stevenson, John Knowles, and Bill Knowles.  

There will be a private burial at Powellton, Ill., at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Muscatine Community School Foundation in her name for elementary education.

Mrs. Fessler was born April 5, 1959, in LaHarpe, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Joan Hull Stevenson.  She married Bryan Fessler June 5, 1982, in St. Clement, Mo.

She graduated from Bowling Green R III High School and she was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman State University.

She was a member of St. Mathias Church and TTT Chapter G.H.

She taught elementary physical education at Washington and Garfield Schools being at Washington for 22 years.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Bryan Fessler of Muscatine; a son, Jared Fessler of Muscatine; a daughter, Jenna Fessler of Muscatine; her father, Albert Stevenson of Fort Madison; two brothers, Tony Stevenson and wife, Cathy, of Niota, Ill., and Doug Stevenson and wife, Sandy, of Nauvoo, Ill.; and two sisters, Pam Knowles and husband, Doug, of Nauvoo, and Carol Jeffries and husband, Jay, of Fort Madison.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Stevenson in 1994.
