OCALA, Fla. — Verl W. Gruver, 96, of Ocala, passed away Aug. 31, 2009. 

Inurnment will be at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens.

 In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Marion County PO Box 4860 Ocala, Fl 34478.

Mr. Gruver was born in Winfield, Iowa he moved to Florida 19 years ago from Muscatine. 

He was an Iowa University alumni, a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and was retired from Stanley Consultants as an electrical engineer. 

He was a member of Countryside Presbyterian Church, Ocala, the American Legion, the NRA, the Iowa Electrical Engineers and was a farmer and enjoyed following politics. 

He will always be remembered for his loving smile and caring heart. 

He is survived by his daughters, Mary K Ziegenhorn and husband, Gary of Ocala and Suzanne Leib and husband Gerald of Erie, Pa.; granddaughters, Amy Martin, Sara Dunnam, Mary Moreira and Julie Nassif; great-grandchildren, Kayle, Tanios, Gabriella and Andre Nassif, Alexis Moreira, Xavier and Alec Martin and Gavin Dunnam. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte M. Gruver.
