BURLINGTON, Iowa — William “Bill” Alden Ivey, 81, of Burlington died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.
The Revs. Sam Fratt and Dan Davis will officiate. Interment will be at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
Memorials have been established for Foursquare Church and KAABA Shrine.
Mr. Ivey was born April 26, 1928, in Anson, Kan., the son of William Herbert and Florence Connell Ivey. He married Beverly Reed in November 1964.
He was a certified addiction counsellor. He was the lay pastor of Sunnyside Avenue Baptist Church for five years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a member of Des Moines Lodge No. 1, KAABA Shrine and the Order of Eastern Star.
He enjoyed camping, trout fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ivey of Burlington; four daughters, Pamela Schellekens and Tamela McConnell both of Muscatine, Laura Chausse` of Ogden, Utah and Lisa Ivey of Shoreview, Minn.; two sisters, Leah Anderson of Muscatine and Vera Franklin of Wheeling, Ill.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Herbert Ivey and two children in infancy.
