MUSCATINE, Iowa — Jon R. Pearce, 67, Muscatine, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at his home.

A time of food and fellowship will be held in the Wittich-Lewis Community Room immediately following the Remembrance Service. 

There will be no visitation. 

His request for cremation was officiated by the Life Transition and Cremation Center. 

Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Law Library or the Muscatine Humane Society in Jon's name.

Mr. Pearce was born May 13, 1942, in Sleepy Eye, Minn., the son of Robert and Doris (Davey) Pearce. 

He graduated from Janesville High School in Minnesota and received his bachelor’s from Minnesota State University at Mankato.  He was also a graduate of the Drake University School of Law, where he wrote for the law review. 

He married Dona M. Pittman June 21, 1969, in Muscatine. 

He was admitted to practice law, first in Iowa and later in California. 

He belonged to the Iowa State Bar Association and the State Bar of California and practiced law in Iowa and California his entire career. 

While practicing in California, he was chairman of the Water Committee of the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce. In Iowa, he was a member of the Board of Professional Conduct of the Iowa State Bar Association and was a partner at Stanley, Lande, Coulter and Pearce until 1987. 

He was past member and drummer for the Elks Chanters and also played drums for the Notables for several years.  He had a law office in Muscatine, retiring in February 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Dona of Muscatine; a son, Robert, and wife, Rachele, of Silver Spring, Md.; his sister, Marcia Kroschel and husband, Kurt of Arizona; two nephews, a niece; and a stepniece and stepnephew. 

He is preceded in death by his parents.
