SILVIS, ILL. — Walter L. “Bud” Hofer Jr., 57, of Silvis, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at his home.
The Rev. William Gluck Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.

Mr. Hofer was born Oct. 18, 1950, in Rock Island, the son of Walter L. and Mildred (Pickup) Hofer Sr.
He married Joy Glines on June 1, 1969, in Andalusia.
He was a painter at CNH for 30 years, retiring in 2002.
He loved to hunt and fish; pheasant hunting was his ultimate love. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by two sons, Robert J. (Melisa) Hofer of Reynolds and Wyatt L. (Sheri) Hofer of Barstow; a daughter, Joleen (Rick) Eaves of Columbiana, Ala.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Gary Hofer of Colona, Ill., and Michael (Jill) Hofer of Wentzville, Mo.; an uncle; and three aunts.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tom Lake and Dennis Flynn.
