DAVENPORT, Iowa — Othel “Max” Harris, 89, of Davenport, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Davenport Good Samaritan Center.
Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Central Church of Christ.

Mr. Harris was born in 1920 in Downing, Mo., the son of John G. and Kate Harris. He married Ida Hughes in July of 1946.
He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army.
He worked as a machine operator at ALCOA for 20 years, retiring in 1973. He was a charter member of Central Church of Christ, where he had served as a deacon and an elder for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ida, of Davenport; a daughter, Diana McKinney and husband, Duane of Red Oak, Texas; sons, Ralph Harris and wife, Connie of Davenport; Gary Harris and wife, Emily of Rosebud, Ark.; and Ronald Harris and wife, Susie of Davenport; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Nedra Kinyon and husband, Don of Guttenberg; two brothers, Lowell Harris and wife,Rose of Searcy, Ark. and Glen Harris and wife, Rosa of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, LaDeana Peterson and Morna Darrah; and three brothers, Robert Harris, Johnny Leon Harris and Blaine Harris.
