MUSCATINE, Iowa – Susan M. Hipshur, 59, of Muscatine, died Monday, July 13, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

Casketbearers will be Robert Hipshur Sr., Robert Hipshur Jr., Max Westfall, Daryl Westfall, Mike Burns Jr. and Joey Volkl.

Mrs. Hipshur was born Aug. 30, 1949, in Muscatine, the daughter of Henry and Darlene Strong Burhop.  She married Herman Hipshur Jr. on July 24, 1974, in Muscatine.

She was of Baptist faith.

She enjoyed computer games, was a Winnie the Pooh collector, going to the gambling boats, and enjoyed her family.

Survivors include her husband, Herman Hipshur Jr. of Muscatine; two daughters, Malisa Hipshur of Muscatine, and Malinda Burns and husband, Michael Burns Jr., of Muscatine; two step-sons, Robert Hipshur Sr. and wife, Denise, of Lockport, Ill., and Steven Tazelaar of Braidwood, Ill.; two step-daughters, Starla Sylvester of Romeoville, Ill., and Cathy Rigsby of Fayette, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, William Burhop and wife, Karen, of Muscatine; three sisters, Rosemary Ellithorpe of Muscatine, Kathy Wiegand and husband, Jerry, of Muscatine, and Joyce Westfall and husband, Max, of Muscatine; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter, Samantha Burns.
