MUSCATINE, Iowa — Ogle S. “Terp” Terpenning, 86, of Muscatine, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Carrington Place in Muscatine.
Private interment will be at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Jeffrey S. Nichols – Garden Ridge Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 28, 1923, in Alton, Ill., the son of Charles and Minnie Irvin Terpenning. He married Virginia C. Irvin on March 28, 1946, in Alton, Ill.
He had worked as a boilermaker prior to retirement. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing in his younger years.
He is survived by sons Philip of Marshalltown and Dan of Fairport; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Charles, Jason and Jessica Terpenning; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2001, daughter-in-law, Julie, in 2000; and one great-grandson, Cody.
