MUSCATINE, Iowa — Mike Gerard Harsch, 49, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, with his family by his side at Unity Hospital in Muscatine.
The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Mike and his family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pearl City Outreach meal site in Muscatine.
Mr. Harsch was born Sept. 25, 1960, in Muscatine, the son of Jack and Bev (Koett) Harsch.
He attended the Muscatine school system.
He made Muscatine his home his entire life.
A family friend wrote, “Mike will be remembered as one of the best looking guys in town, a guy who could date any girl he wanted.”
Mike devoted much of his time and energy as a caregiver to his beloved mother, until she passed away on Jan. 2, 2007, at age 71.
He enjoyed visiting and sharing life stories. He was a gentle man and always had a huge smile for everyone he met.
Mike will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who knew him, especially his faithful companion and beloved dog, Dot.Com.
He is survived by his father, Jack Harsch; a brother, Jeff Harsch and wife, Wynne of Muscatine; a sister, Lori Harsch Hollandsworth of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; his nephews, Jonny Hollandsworth of Lake of the Ozarks and Troy Nichols of Muscatine; nieces, Lyndsey Harsch of Muscatine and Rebecca Hoag of Wapello; a great-niece, Halle of Muscatine; and an aunt, Theresa Shultz of Huntington Beach, Calif., and a special life-long friend, Willa Drake
