BETTENDORF, Iowa — Marie R. Frye, 79, Bettendorf, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine.
Memorials may be made to the church or to the Bettendorf Childrens Museum.
Mrs. Frye was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Numa, the daughter of August and Rose (Kauzlarich) Tometich.
A graduate of Numa High School, she was a member of the all-state basketball team who had placed second one year. She marriedJohn J. Frye Sept. 13, 1958, in Bartlett, Ill. He preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1997.
She was employed in the office of Rockingham-Lunex Corp., in Pleasant Valley, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of Red Hat Ladies, the Evergreen Womens Auxiliary at Our Lady of Lourdes and the American Business Womens Association. She had also volunteered for the Bettendorf Childrens Museum, the Mississippi Valley Blood Center and the Festival of Trees.
Those left to honor her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Elizabeth Frye of Huber Heights, Ohio; her grandchildren, Daniel Frye and wife, Carla and Jonathan Frye; her great-granddaughters, Ashlynn and Aubrey; her sisters, Eve Reum, of San Angelo, Texas and Teress Weber and husband, Jim of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; her brother, Steve Tometich of Bettendorf; and her sister-in-law Jill Tometich, of Tracy, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her brother, August; her brother-n-law, Don Reum; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Tometich.
