MILAN, Ill. - Judy I. Garbes, 58, of Milan, died Thursday Jan. 22, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus in Rock Island.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Visitation is noon-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, where an auxiliary service will be presented at noon by the Milan American Legion Auxiliary. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mrs. Garbes was born May 6, 1945 in Prairie Du Chien, Wis., the daughter of Lyle Scarf and Dorothy Barker Scarf. She married James W. Garbes, Sr. Aug. 21, 1999 in Davenport, Iowa.
She was an assistant manager at Big 10 Mart in East Moline.
She was member of the Milan American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, James "Grandpa" Garbes, Sr., Milan; two children, Florence and Tom Patz, Port Byron, John and Kristen Minch, Jr. Muscatine; stepchildren, James "Butch" and Rhonda Garbes, Jr., Rock Island and Jolene and Fred, Jr. Barton, Waterloo, Iowa; grandchildren, Amber, T.J., Dustin, Tiffanie, Derick, and Daylen; stepgrandchildren, Jessica, Melissa, Fred III, Justin, Jo'ash, Kenny, Shannah, Rochelle, and Annette; 5 step great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Harry Scarf, Moline, Dawn Myres, Erie, Becky Fields, West Virginia, and Leonard Selles, Prairie Du Chien.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Sandy Horsman and Charlene Harkner.
