CONESVILLE, Iowa — Robert R. Murdock, 78, of Conesville, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at the Lone Tree Health Care Center following an extended illness.

The Rev. Linda Nicklin will officiate.

Casketbearers will be August Murdock, Tim Murdock, Steven Denkmann, David Metcalf, Aron Rendon Zach Barnhart, and Ben Sands.  

Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Conesville United Methodist Church. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Robert.  Sympathy notes may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

 Mr. Murdock was born on March 5, 1931, in Washington County, the son of Gail and Margaret A. (Lantz) Murdock.  He graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1948.  He married Naomi Jane Wehmeyer April 29, 1950, at the Lone Tree United Methodist Church.

He was a farmer in the Conesville area his entire life.

He owned and operated the Southeast Iowa Seed Services. He was a member of the Columbus Junction Masons and the KAABA Shriners.  He enjoyed melon, grain, hog, and truck farming, hunting, fishing, woodworking, rebuilding machinery, dining out and working at the L-Bar-M Rodeo.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Naomi of Conesville; his children, Bob Murdock and wife, Lisa of Niles, Mich.; Linda Nicklin and husband, Bill of Floris, Iowa; Mike Murdock of Conesville and Julie Denkmann and Tim Sands of Conesville; 12 grandchildren, August, Susan, Tim, Holly, Gabriel, Brandie, Ryan, Steven, Samantha, Zach, Jennifer and Ben; 11.5 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Kenneth Murdock and wife, Peg of Georgia and Gary Murdock of Lone Tree. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rick Murdock; a daughter-in law, Teri Murdock; a brother, Clifford Murdock and a sister, Esther Powers.
