DURANT, Iowa — Norma Wacker, 101, Durant, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
The Rev. Joshua Reimche will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Enoch Petersen, Charls Wacker, Christopher Wacker, Philip Petersen, Kurt Kazmierski, Scott Harmon, Earl Butts, Gregg Butts, Norman Ulbrich, Dale Ulbrich, Ken Kossman, Mervin Wacker and Hugh Taylor.
Following interment, a luncheon will be held at the Church.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Choir or the Davenport Lutheran Home in her memory.
Musical selections will be provided by organist Linda Timmsen.
Mrs. Wacker was born Jan. 28, 1908, the daughter of John and Vita (Wyneken) Kossman in Convoy, Ohio. She married Herman A. Wacker Nov. 9, 1935, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1984.
She retired from Heinz in Muscatine, where she was a bookkeeper for many years.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton, and Zion’s Ladies Aid and Friendship Club.
For many years, she sang in the choir at Zion Lutheran Church, Muscatine.
She enjoyed playing the piano, quilting, playing cards and was a member of many card clubs. Her faith was very important to her. Her Lutheran foundation was laid by her great-great- grandfather, Friedrich Conrad Dietrich Wyneken who helped establish the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and was it’s second president in 1850.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lois White of Corpus Christi, Texas, Doris and husband, Merlin Petersen of Martinsville, Ind., a son, Clyde and wife, Betty Wacker of Durant; 10 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her sisters, Olivia Ulbrich, Vivian Kossman, Editha Kossman and a brother, Henry Kossman.
