MUSCATINE, Iowa — Fred Busch Jr., 83, Muscatine, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Mercy Hospital Hospice Center in Iowa City. 

  The Rev. Arnie Conrad will officiate. 

Casketbearers will be Randy Schenkel, Randy Hill, David Cunningham, Jeff Sivedge, Robert Novinski and Jeff Keith. 

Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with full military rites by the combined units of the V.F.W Post 1565 and the American Legion Post No. 27. 

Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.  

A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Fred to be donated to Mercy Hospital Hospice Center in Iowa City.  Sympathy notes may be left for the Busch family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com

Mr. Busch was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Muscatine, the son of Fred C. Busch Sr. and Hazel G. Hidlebaugh.  He married Vivian L. Cunningham in Los Angeles, Calif., June 1, 1960,

He served his country in the United States Army during WWII as a Sergeant from 1944-46.  He worked as a meat cutter for 18 years, self-employed carpenter for eight years, and retired from HON Industries after 11 years of service. 

He enjoyed woodworking, wood crafts, fishing, hunting and most of all, spending time with his family.

 He will be deeply missed by his wife, Vivian of Muscatine; his children, David W. Busch and friend, Janet Haskell of Muscatine, Livia Nyweide and husband, James of Muscatine, Marilee Yocum and husband, Rodney of Muscatine, Patrick Shawn Busch and wife, Leigh of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Michael Allen Busch of Muscatine; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Seiler and Dorothy Schenkel, both of Muscatine.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Francis; a brother, Charles Robert and a son, Fred D.
