 MOLINE, Ill. — Ruth A. Lenser, 85, Moline, formerly of Illinois City, died Nov. 14, 2009, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

 Memorials may be made to Illinois City United Methodist Church or Reynolds American Legion Auxiliary No. 1166.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory Ltd., is assisting the family.

Mrs. Lenser was born April 7, 1924, in Buffalo Prairie Township, Ill., the daughter of William S. and Florence (Dungan) Cannam.  She married Clarence “Art” Lenser on June 23, 1946, in Illinois City.

She worked as a remittance agent for the Secretary of State and as a secretary for Drury Township for 24 years. 

She was a member of Illinois City United Methodist Church where she held numerous offices and was a member of the Martha Circle for 50 years.  She was also a member of the Reynolds American Legion Auxiliary No. 1166 and Republican Women of Rock Island County. 

She also chaired other various church and community activities and ran a small business out of her home in Illinois City.

She is survived by herhusband, Clarence; a brother-in-law,   Ralph Lenser and husband, Vi, Rock Island; nieces, Carol Davis and husband,  Dave, Moline, Linda Ohl, Rock Island; nephew, Robert Lenser and wife,  Connie, Florida; great-niece and nephews; several cousins and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
