MUSCATINE, Iowa — Lloyd H. Shoppa Sr., 57, Muscatine, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, in Texas while visiting with his wife.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Stacy Shoppa for the Lloyd Shoppa Sr. memorial fund.

Mr. Shoppa was born Oct. 20, 1951, in Muscatine, the son of Wayne R. and Leila Law Shoppa.

He retired in 2007 after 37 years of employment with Monsanto.

He enjoyed going to swap meets, working on cars and looking for old cars.  He loved taking care of his dogs and vacationing at South Padre Island, Texas.  He enjoyed spending time with his wife and his best friend Chris Hawley.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy of Weatherford, Texas; sons, Alex Shoppa and wife, Rachel of Muscatine, Beau Shoppa and wife, Melissa and Casey Shoppa and wife, Tonia, all of Arizona, and Lloyd Shoppa Jr. of Davenport; grandchildren, Melanie Shoppa, Malika Shoppa, Raynessa Shoppa and Mariah Shoppa; brothers, Wayne Shoppa, Jr. and wife, Patsy of Fruitland, Jed Shoppa and wife, Cindy of Muscatine, Jan and wife, Lisa of West Palm Beach, Fla., Jody Shoppa and wife, Mindy of Fruitland; and Don Law Sr. and wife, Carleen of Muscatine; special friends, Katherine Rhode and Chris Hawley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers a niece and a nephew.
