Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, Columbus Junction United Methodist Church.  Visitation: 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, the Stacy-Lewis Home.  

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa — Charlotte Morrison, 91, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction.

The Rev. Al Coffin will officiate services. 

Casket bearers will be Tami Schweitzer, Tony Morrison, Chris Reid, Brenda Mellecker, David Reid and Anita McKillip.

 Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church or the Colonial Manor Care Center in Charlotte’s name.

Charlotte Grace Sands was born June 30, 1918, in Ainsworth, the daughter of Glen and Edna L. (Moore) Sands. 

She lived in Washington County until 1933 before moving to Columbus Junction where she graduated from Columbus High School with the Class of 1936.  She married John L. Morrison in Columbus Junction on Jan. 22, 1937.  She worked as the bookkeeper for Fisher Implement Co., Morrison Bros. Implement, and later Morrison Implement Co. for more than 35 years. 

She and her husband owned and operated Morrison Implement Co. until 1981, at which time they retired. 

She was also a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. 

She loved having coffee with her friends, and one of her greatest joys was playing the piano and organ by ear in the Morrison Band for more than 40 years. 

Many great family times included playing for dances at Kingsbury Inn, various parades and riding and playing on their pontoons  at Lake Odessa. 

She enjoyed life to the fullest, playing golf and entertaining the residents of Colonial Manor Care Center with her brother, the late Bill Sands and his wife, Kathleen.   

She will be dearly missed by her children, Lee Morrison and wife, Shelby, of North Liberty, and Tim Morrison and wife, Cindy, of DeKalb, Ill.; six grandchildren, Tami Schweitzer and husband, Dave, of Washington, Ia., Tony Morrison and wife, Kelly, of Fort Collins, Co., Chris Reid and wife, Debby, of Tomah, Wis., Brenda Mellecker and husband, Keith, of Cotter, Anita McKillip and husband, Jody, of Coralville,  and David Reid and wife, Beth, of Washington; 12 great grandchildren; three  great great grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Wykert of Burlington and Joan Grim and her husband, Everett, of Nichols; three sisters-in-law, Kathleen Sands of Columbus Junction, Barb Sands of Morning Sun and Rita Sands of Columbus Junction. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her daughter, Sandra Betty Reid; four brothers, James “Bill,” Bob, Dick and Sam and three sisters, Myrna Hazelett, Lois Boyd and Betty June Sands.
