Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, church with additional visitation one hour prior to service, church.

WILTON, Iowa — Fred  Kummerfeldt, 91, Wilton, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at Unity Health Systems Hospital in Muscatine.

The Rev. Gaylor Nelson will officiate. 

Serving as casketbearers will be David Kummerfeldt, Sara Martindale, Jessica Evans, Chad Martindale, Stanley Curry and Jack Kummerfeldt, Allan Friederichs.

Interment will be at the Durant Cemetery, Durant.

Memorials may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or the Wilton First Responders in his memory.

Mr. Kummerfeldt was born April 5, 1918, the son of Johannes and Emilie (Heick) Kummerfeldt in Scott County.  He married Hilda O. Soenke Jan. 28, 1945, in Davenport.

He farmed his entire life in Scott and Muscatine counties. 

He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant, the Wilton Masonic Lodge No. 167 AF & AM and the Muscatine County Farm Bureau. 

He was a former member of the Walcott Knights of Pythias and the Muscatine County Pork Producers Board.  He served as a Fulton Township Trustee, worked for the ASCS office, Muscatine, and served on the Stockton Elevator Board of Directors. 

He enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska and Minnesota, camping, fishing and was an avid reader.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Hilda Kummerfeldt of Wilton, his daughters,  Patricia Raper and husband, Terry of Henderson, Nev., and Janet Kelso and husband, John of Emblem, Wyo.; his son, John Kummerfeldt and wife, Karen of Durant; three grandchildren, Sara Martindale, David Kummerfeldt and Jessica Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters,  Helen Kummerfeldt and Martha Friederichs; his brothers,  Max, Paul, Otto, William, Harry and Herbert Kummerfeldt.
