Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Visitation: 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, the funeral home.
ILLINOIS CITY, Ill. —Ruth Irene Bowser, 94, of Illinois City, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.
Burial will be in the Illinois City Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Illinois City United Methodist Church Fund or Lutheran Homes in memory of Ruth.

Ruth Irene Thomas was born on April 2, 1915, in Illinois City, Ill., the daughter of Charles L. and Ida M. (Fowler) Thomas.
She married Delbert D. Bowser on Dec. 23, 1933, in Dixon, Ill.
She attended the Illinois City Methodist Church. She was a member of the Illinois City Garden Club, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Rock Island Home Extension.
She and her husband operated Ruthndel Dairy Farm for 25 years, and later raised stock cattle and farmed until his death in 1986.
Later, she enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Barbara L. Willits and her husband, William of New Boston, Ill., and Jill E. Bras and her husband, James of Illinois City, Ill.; four grandchildren, Dawn Marie Padilla, Shawn J. Paul, Samuel B. Bras and Tyler D. Bras, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1986, two sisters, Verda Danner and Lucille Krueger and one brother, Ellis Thomas.
