SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Talmadge Jackson, 69, San Diego, Calif., formerly of Muscatine, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at his home in San Diego.   

The Arthur Ousley will officiate the services. 

Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hillcrest Baptist Church. 

A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Talmadge. 

Talmadge Jackson was born May 9, 1940, in East St. Louis, Ill., the son of Garridge Lee Jackson Sr. and Ehrma Lee (Beason) Jackson. 

Everyone new him as “Tal.”

He was a graduate of Muscatine High School and attended San Diego State University. 

He married Vivian Gaddis Jan. 9, 1962, in Muscatine and later divorced.

 He retired after 29 years of service from the U. S. Marine Corps., serving from April 2, 1962 to Dec. 1, 1991, serving as a drill instructor and he attained the rank of master sergeant. 

He served in the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart, Cuban Crisis and other worldwide services. He was also a recruiter for the Marines for four years in Chicago. 

He enjoyed archery, basketball, tennis and racquetball.  One of his hobbies was Jaguars, he was an entrepreneur of Jaguars, thus the nickname, “Jag Man.”

He will be deeply missed by his mother, Ehrma Jackson of Muscatine; his children, Lorraine Kay Jackson of Muscatine, Liza Renee Jackson of Dayton, Ohio and Michael Boges of Albany, Ga.; two grandchildren, Milan Imanuelle Jackson and Latrice Danielle Jackson; a great-grandchild, Noah Anthony Jackson; a brother, Richard S. Jackson of Chicago; a sister, Neomia Jackson Malcolm and husband, Osmond of Oak Park, Ill.; nieces, Margaret Ann Frank, Cynthia M. Frank, Judy E. Frank, Angela Jackson, Theresa Jackson, Mary Jackson-Anders and  husband, Jim and Renata Frank and nephews, Henry Preston Frank III, Anthony Lewis Frank, Carvelle Machlan, Mark Jackson, Thaddeus Jackson, Jamar Jackson, Hiram Jackson and Esteban Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Wiley; father, Garridge Jackson Sr.; a sister, Madie Lee Jackson Frank; a brother, Henry P. Frank and two nieces, Patrice Frank and Anita L. Frank-Machlan .
