MUSCATINE, Iowa — German Ramos Cruz, 86, Muscatine, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The Rev. Mike Bales will officiate.
Following the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in German's name.

German Ramos Cruz was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Puerto Rico, the son of Juan Ramos and Maximina (Ortiz) Cruz. He married Phyllis R. Nichol May 12, 1973, in Rock Island, Ill.
He was employed by Heinz Inc. for 30 years.
He enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, gardening, cooking, listening to music, but most of all, German dearly loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Phyllis of Muscatine; his children, Erma of New York, Carmen of Puerto Rico, Sonia of New York, Manuela of Puerto Rico, Rosie of New York, Juan of Muscatine and Christina Dawn Cruz of Puerto Rico; step-children, Bobbie Stadalsky and husband, Ron of Sumter, S.C, Donna Phillips of Muscatine, Don Davis of Muscatine, Buddy Davis of Muscatine and Connie James and husband, Mac of Ava, Mo.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Mama Rosa; son-in-law, Steve Phillips; father-in-law, John Nichol and mother-in-law, Mina Pouder.
