ALEDO, Ill. — Constance S. Burns, 68, of Aledo, Ill., died Friday, May 1, 2009, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Burial is in the Aledo cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Mercer County Nursing Home or the Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donation Network. Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.

She was born April 7, 1941, in Rock Island, the daughter of Chester and Vivienne Tarrant Hunsley.

She graduated from Rock Island High School and attended AIC in Davenport.

On May 21, 1960, she was united in marriage to Richard J. Burns Sr. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Rock Island.

She was employed in the Activities Dept. at the Mercer County Nursing Home until retiring in 1993.

She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, bird watching, photography, was an avid Cubs fan and especially enjoyed being with her family and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Richard; a daughter, Stephanie (Jim) McIntosh of Aledo; two sons, Joe Burns of Muscatine, Iowa, and John (Angie) Burns of Aledo; eight grandchildren, Christopher Burns, Cassie, Levi and Elijah Burns, Yancy, Chelsea, Landon and Malaynie McIntosh; a sister, Sandy Ohlweiler, of Moline and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents preceded her in death.
