WILTON, Iowa – Pauline R. Maurer, 86, of Wilton, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.
Interment will take place at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
Pauline was born Sept. 23, 1923 to Robert and Ruth (Gibbs) Reynolds in Muscatine.
Pauline graduated from Muscatine High School in 1941.
While working at the candy counter at Kresge’s Dime Store in Muscatine, she met Leo Maurer. They married on Feb. 8, 1942 in Muscatine.
Prior to the birth of their son, she worked at Lamp’s Store and Peirce Dental Office in Wilton. After 62 years of marriage, Leo preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2004.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Wilton, UPW and Purity Chapter of Order of Eastern Star No. 367, Wilton. She loved to play cards, especially bridge.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Larry Maurer of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Emily and John, both of Iowa City; her sister, Edna Riggs of Muscatine; her sisters-in-law, Vera Pagel of Wilton and Roma Reynolds of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Bob Reynolds, and her daughter-in-law, Ann Maurer.
