MUSCATINE, Iowa — On Friday Sept. 26, 2008, Rodney Dale Kirk Sr. went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
The Rev. Art Cutshall of the Muscatine Baptist Chapel will officiate. Casketbearers will be Les Kirk, Rodney Kirk Jr., Gary Martin, Nathan Kirk, Marvin Smith, Korie Gafeller, Jim Vargus and Don Carroll. Honorary casketbearers will be Little Les Kirk, Damian Kirk, Aarin Gafeller, Misty and Ben Taylor, Brandon Bargar, Lucas Bargar, Corey Phillips, Lisa Rundall and Terri Logan. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment there will be a time of food and fellowship at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis community room. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Rodney’s name. Sympathy notes may be left at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Mr. Kirk was born Aug. 12, 1956, in Muscatine, the son of William H. and Lenora (Vargus) Kirk.He married Mary Tobias Aug. 16, 2003, in Muscatine. He worked for Daufeldt Transport as a commercial driver. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool and darts, fishing, hunting and running. Rodney loved animals.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Mary of Muscatine; two sons, Rodney Kirk Jr. and his wife, Missy and Nathan Kirk, all of Muscatine; his daughter, Heather Gafeller and husband, Gary of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Damian Kirk and Korie and Aarin Gafeller; his mother, Lenora Kirk of Muscatine; two brothers, Leslie Kirk and his wife, Teresa and Gary Martin and wife, Karen, all of Muscatine; a sister, Julie Bargar and husband, Jason of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.
