MUSCATINE, Iowa –  A crowd of nearly 600 people heard President Clinton campaign today at the Muscatine Community Y on behalf of Sen. Hillary Clinton.

During a nearly 90-minute address punctuated with humor and anecdotes, Clinton said he would vote for the U.S. Senator from New York, who hopes to be the 2008 Democratic presidential nominee, even if she wasn’t his wife. He said he believes in her ability to lead the nation.

“She will be a great president,” Clinton said. “You will never, ever regret it.”

Sarah Poisel of Marion attended the event and spoke briefly with Clinton afterward.

“He said he’s coming back to Iowa four or five more times,” said Poisel. “I’m hoping he’ll bring Hillary with him.”

Clinton stopped at Muscatine’s Family Style Restaurant at 1903 Park Ave. for lunch after the campaign appearance.

According to Iowans for Hillary, President Clinton was scheduled today to also visit De Witt and Peoria, Ill.
