COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa — A Columbus City woman was injured Thursday after her car collided with a squad car that was parked on the roadside with its emergency lights on, according to Iowa State Patrol reports.
Charges are pending against Erica N. Amigon, 19, who caused the wreck at about 5:30 p.m. Amigon was southbound on Iowa Highway 70 north of Columbus Junction when she lost control of her vehicle at the site of a previous accident. Amigon struck the squad car of Columbus Junction Police Office Daniel Zepeda and her car wound up in the east ditch. Zepeda was not injured. Amigon was taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where news about her condition was not available this morning.
Both cars were towed from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
