DAVENPORT, Iowa — The couple found dead Sunday in a Davenport home are former Muscatine residents.

Tommy M. Harper Sr., 58, and Laurie Harper, 51, of 658 Cedar St., were found shot to death in a bedroom after a 911 caller summoned police to the house shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police and emergency responders were called to the residence because of a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller, police said, was “not very cooperative” and hung up on the 911 emergency dispatcher.

Police are not searching for a suspect, officials acknowledged.

The house, on the corner of Cedar Street and Telegraph Road, is being purchased on contract by Jerry and Jessica Harper. Jerry Harper, who attended Muscatine High School in the early 1990s, is the deceased couple’s son and was living there with his parents, according to records. He is estranged from his wife.

Jerry Harper, 33, faces a charge of felon in possession of a firearm as a result of the investigation into the two deaths. He has a felony drug conviction, records show.

Police confiscated 14 long guns and two handguns from an upstairs bedroom on Sunday. The guns were in unsecured cases on the floor of the room, which had no door, officials said.

Police searched the house for clues Monday. Autopsies are scheduled today, officials said.

In the past year, police have been called to the house several times, including for domestic incidents in September and November as well a disturbance earlier this month.
