MUSCATINE, Iowa — A former employee of the HON Company has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit in federal court, claiming her supervisor asked her out and then treated her poorly when she declined.

Angela Flores was an employee of HON from August 2005 until she was discharged in March 2007, according to the suit filed in U.S. District, Davenport.

The suit claims Flores’ supervisor asked her out to lunch, made physical advances and attempted to flirt with her.

After she refused his advances, he allegedly treated her differently than non-Hispanic workers and Hispanic workers who accepted his advances, the suit claims.

The supervisor allegedly refused to give her supervisory instruction or speak directly with her, stood outside the women’s restroom to time her bathroom visits, required her to perform menial jobs on downtime while letting others rest and telling male co-workers to stay away from her, the suit alleges.

Efforts to reach HON officials for comment Tuesday were unsuccessful.
