MUSCATINE, Iowa —Tammi Drawbaugh said this morning she will seek re-election to the Muscatine Community School Board after having served a three-year term.
Drawbaugh, 39, will run for a four-year term on the board in a field of announced candidates that already includes Dennis Fox and Tim Bower.
There are seven members on the Muscatine School Board. In addition to Drawbaugh, the terms of Paul Brooks and Joyce Haller expire this year.
“All students can achieve at high levels and … all Iowa students deserve the very best we have to offer to them,” Drawbaugh said in a statement. “Preparing our students with 21st century skills must be a focus of their learning. Upon graduation, today’s young students will enter the workforce and be required to solve problems that don’t yet exist, using technology that hasn’t yet been invented.”
Drawbaugh and her husband, Paul, have two children: Kaleb, 10; and Emma, 6. Both attend Grant Elementary school.
She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Iowa Wesleyan College. She is a project manager at HNI Corp., where she has worked for 13 years.
Drawbaugh has taught Sunday school and been a youth adviser at First Presbyterian Church for many years. She is a past president and vice president of the Grant Elementary Parent Teacher Organization. She was recently appointed by Gov. Chet Culver to serve on the Institute for Tomorrow’s Workforce board.
Each year she has been on the School Board, Drawbaugh has received the Iowa Association of School Boards’ Better Boardsman Award.
