Pair could face five years on drug charge

NICHOLS, Iowa — Two people were arrested Thursday for growing marijuana plants, according to documents filed at the Muscatine County Courthouse.

Luis Felipe Barreiro, 29, and Yaritza Torres Garcia, 28, are both being held in the Muscatine County Jail on $5,000 bond for manufacturing a controlled substance.

The Muscatine County Drug Task Force reportedly found 17 plants on July 2 at the home of Barreiro and Garcia, 715 Ijim Ave.

Upon their arrest the two reported they are now living at 1218  1/2 Smalley Ave., Muscatine.

Both face five years in prison if found guilty. They are scheduled for preliminary hearings at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4.
