Target population is individuals with pre-existing health  conditions such as ashthma or heart conditions are especially encouraged to get a vaccine, Odell said.

Parents are encouraged to make appointments for children with health conditions, she said.

Although quantities of the H1N1 vaccine are limited, new shipments are expected every week, Odell said.

In addition to the H1N1 injection vaccine, a nasal spray is also being offered in Muscatine for caregivers, parents and siblings of children 6 months or younger.

Those interested in receiving either the injection or the nasal spray H1N1 vaccine can call Unity at 563-263-0122.

“We’d like to let the community know that if they fit in one of those target groups, they can call us for an appointment and protect themselves and their family members,” Odell said.
