MUSCATINE, Iowa —Denise Marie Johhson of Muscatine, formerly of Newton, died Dec. 31, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Burial will be at the Palo Alto Cemetery near Newton.

Denise M. Johnson, 48, the daughter of Merle and Juanita Geraldine (Evans) Johnson, was born July 25, 1960 in Newton. She was a graduate of the Grinnell, Iowa High School.

She devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Christian Life Center in Newton and Vineyard Fellowship in Muscatine. A lifelong resident of the Newton area, she moved to Muscatine in 2005. She was employed as a dietary aid at the Lutheran Home in Muscatine. She enjoyed and loved her family and friends, caring for others, cooking, long walks and her dog, Lucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Katrina Johnson of Muscatine; her son, Zachary Johnson also of Muscatine; a brother, Ward Warning of Newton; a sister, Kathy Bader of Lamoni; her special friend Paul Allen Rex of Muscatine and her many good neighbors and friends.
