MUSCATINE, Iowa — Joyce A. Barquist Henderson, 67, of Muscatine, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf.
Dr. Hal Green will officiate. Casketbearers will be Larry Barquist, Brian Barquist, Steve Burrell, Nick Ogilvie, Jody Manjoine, David Freers, Doug Schweitzer and Kurt Franklin. Private family burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Community College Foundation or Trinity Hospice.

Mrs. Henderson was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, the adoptive daughter of James F. and Ethel M. (Carper) Loper. She married Michael C. Henderson on Jan. 1, 1961, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1994.
She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1959. She attended college at Muscatine Community College, University of Iowa and graduated from Marycrest College with a teaching degree.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, T.T.T. Chapter M, Geneva Golf and Country Club and Muscatine Community College Foundation, where she served as executive director. She was the first female member of the local I Club and served as its secretary/treasurer.
She and her husband owned and operated the Henderson Chevrolet-Oldsmobile car dealership, selling the business in 1983. After her husband’s death in 1994, she was employed at First National Bank for 14 years.
Survivors include two sons, M.C. Henderson and wife, Amanda, of Muscatine and James M. Henderson and wife, Melissa, of Muscatine; two grandchildren, Erica Henderson and Michael Henderson II, both of Muscatine; one brother, Larry R. Barquist and wife, Linda, of Bettendorf; one sister, Linda G. Knott of Omaha, Neb.; and two family friends, Bill Angell of Muscatine and Karen Harper of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her birth parents, Lawrence and Lucille Barquist; and her adoptive parents, James and Ethel Loper.
