GOLD CANYON, Ariz. — Harold James “Jim” Hartman, 78, Gold Canyon, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008.

Mr. Hartman was born Dec. 15, 1929 in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Harold and Ethel Hartman. He married Lorna Bray in 1950. He farmed after his marriage.

He graduated from Anamosa High School. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-54.

 After returning from the service, he attended and graduated from the University of Iowa, with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1959. He then moved to Muscatine, where he raised two children and worked for Stanley Engineering, Kent Feeds, and Monsanto until retirement.

 In 1996, He and his wife moved to Gold Canyon, Ariz., to enjoy warm winters and be near friends and family from Iowa who had also retired to the same area.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna; daughter, Susan Reddish; and sons, Douglas and Brendel, and Zackary and Brooke Hartman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Betty Ovel.
