Belles’ run is over

MEDIAPOLIS, Iowa – West Liberty’s run through the Class 2A regional volleyball field came to a crashing halt when the Belles ran into a solid wall at Mediapolis on Friday.

Coach Ruben Galvan’s Belles were forced to pack up their gear for the season when the host Bullettes swept the visitors in three games.

Mediapolis charged out of the gates with a dominating  25-9 first-game win. Although West Liberty improved in each of the next two games, the results were the same – 15-25 and 17-25 losses.

The setback drops West Liberty to a final 17-16 record. Mediapolis (36-9) plays in the regional finals on Tuesday at Washington against seventh-ranked Pella Christian.
